I've spent a little bit of time recently playing with Kartoo. for a visual person, it's good to have that sort of mind map structure.
i tried a number of searches. one search was for Daniel Buren, the artist from belgium. his official page didn't show up on the fist map, but on the second. i didn't realise there were other 'maps' for a few minutes. only when i entered daniel buren official as the search term, did his site appear on the first map. pages that did appear were wikipedia and the guggenheim museum, (buren had a significant show there in 2005, read all about it here.)
out of interest, i did a comparison, using other search engines. here's a selection of results.
google:
- wikipedia
- guggenheim
- guggenheim
- artcyclopedia
- official page
alta vista - unsponsored results...
- wikipedia
- guggenheim
- guggenheim

yahoo
- wikipedia
- guggenheim
- home.sprynet.com
- findarticles - art forum
- official page
metacrawler
- daniel's restaurant
- wikipedia
- official page
mamma
- official page
daniel's restaurant appears as a sponsored link and wikipedia comes in at 8 on the list.
all the web
- wikipedia
- official page
with all the web i had to remember to select the all languages radio button as the default is english. while there is an english translation of buren's website, it's initially written in french. wikipedia comes up as the first result in all but one of the searches.

23 things continues on! while it's the 4th thing on the list of 5, i looked at voyage first. i added a feed and deleted a number of the feeds i didn't want. however i think i'll be sticking with the google feed reader. the voyage design looks nice and slick and has a spacey starfield screensaver/star wars opening credits feel to it, but one needs a decent mouse and it's frustrating having to drag the mouse all over the screen in order to be able to get to click on a desired link. a case of style over substance.
