23 things and future of blog
The previous post saw the end of 23 things plus five. In thinking of the future of this blog, I'll either be starting up another blog which will be dedicated to my artistic practice or moving all of the material for 23 things off this blog. I haven't quite decided which option to go with. I'm thinking of going with the former as i can't think of a decent name for a new blog. I did come up with one name, but it has already been taken.

23 things plus five - semantic web
i've been reading a bit about the semantic web and don't really know what to say about it. I like what Mishellaneous says about it on 'sea of memes'
regardless of any technical difficulties in building a semantic web, it feels like there are some philosophical problems. words are loaded with different meanings for different people. the cultural assignations to a word or concept are diverse and complex. it feels like the semantic web could further compound a more homogonised display of information. having said that, i do acknowledge that there is a wide range of opinions and information out there. i just think that all the most 'popular' sites tend to float to the top of a web search and that the semantic web probably won't be any different.

23 things plus 5 - linkedin
i can see that linkedin has advantages in professional networking.
as with many web applications, one has to have a reason for using the site. I'm not sure it's a necessity to be signed up with linkedin to stay current with industry news, that may vary between different business environments.
by the way, as of 23rd december, barack obama needs to update his linkedin profile, it only has him listed as a US senator.
